Prof. Neeraj Kumar is currently working as Dean Digital Content Transformation and Professor, CSED, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Patiala, Punjab, India. He has been 2019, 2020, 2021 highly-cited researcher from Thomson Reuter (web of Science) (Top 1% in the area of Computer Science). He has been ranked at number 1 position in India and 220 in the world, statistics given by (research.com), an independent agency. He has published more than 200 selected technical papers in leading journals and conferences, edited/authored 10 books with International/National Publishers like IET, Springer, Elsevier, CRC, BPB in the area of IoT, AI and Cybersecurity, which are cited more than 56500 times from well-known researchers across the globe with current h-index of 126 and i-10 index as 705. He has won the best papers award from IEEE Systems Journal in 2018, 2020 and IEEE ICC 2018, Kansas-city in 2018. He has also won best papers award from JNCA 2021, IEEE Trustcom 2021. He has also won Mid-Career Research award from IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing. Moreover, he has won the best researcher award from his parent organization every year from last eight consecutive years with respect to his outstanding teaching and research capabilities. In the year 2024, he has been awarded the award of excellence from Samsung research India for his novel contribution to design a GenAI based network cloning solution for performance evaluation of the network. For the year 2019, he has been awarded Shiv Nath Rai Kohli Award in the entire state of Punjab, India for his contribution in the area of teaching and research (https://sites.google.com/site/snrkohliaward/awardee-of-the-year-2019?authuser=0 ) .He has executed projects with more than 6 crores of research funding from DST, CSIR, UGC, TCS and other industrial collaboration. Moreover, he has executed many international collaborative projects with countries such as Austria, Poland, UK, USA, China, Saudi Arabia. He has supervised/supervising more than 20 Ph.D. students and 25 M.E./M.Tech. students and more than 50 UG students. He is associate editor of ACM Computing Survey, IEEE Transaction on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transaction on Network and Service Management, and IEEE Transaction on Artificial Intelligence.
He has impactful research contributions in the area of AI and Cybersecurity in partnership with industries such as Samsung Research India, Tata Power, GE, Tata Consultancy Services, and British Telecom. With these industries, the applicant has worked on various projects to design solutions for protecting the critical infrastructure such as smart grid systems, and healthcare. Using blockchain smart contracts and Quantum Key distributions, novel solutions have been designed which has direct societal impact to protect the digital assets for providing a healthy and safe eco-friendly environment for the community. These solutions are helpful for the industries to design their solutions to decide the pricing policy, safeguarding the identity of owner, transfer of ownership, financial transactions etc. Some of these projects are having foreign universities collaboration from UK, Austria, Poland and Saudi Arabia
